John Guinn started Holiday Hut in 2004. This was originally a travel agency, but as clients needs changed due to the increased number of booking websites Holiday Hut evolved into a travel research service.

Instead of just offering a bed and a means to getting there, Holiday Hut now researches and plans the whole trip, including where to eat, what to do and how to get around. As this is a 100% impartial service you can be sure that you are getting the best options. As Holiday Hut doesn’t do the booking judgement is not clouded by the thoughts of commission. Your Travel Researcher works for you and not the tour operators.

John understands that it can be easy to book online, but mistakes can be made, and these can be expensive. So to help the DIY traveller John published ‘The Travel Researcher’s Guide’ to help you to ensure that you get the most out of your holiday, and not waste your hard earned spare time putting up with a mistaken booking.

As well as this handbook, John also talks at various local groups on the pitfalls in using the internet to book holidays and how to avoid them. Talks last from 15 to 60 minutes, and are entertaining as well as informative. Everyone learns at least one new thing, even those who have been booking their own travel for years. To find out more about these presentations please contact John using the Contact Me page.

In June 2012, the John Guinn Travel Show was broadcast for the first time on Secklow Sounds. The travel show ran for three years and contained travel hints, tips and news, and also has guests sharing their knowledge of destinations, resorts and attractions. The Travel Show now appears on UK Health Radio.

Each show is made into a podcast, there are links to each show in this blog, or you can visit Mixcloud to search through the entire back catalogue.

Whether you read this blog, listen to his show, read his book or use his service, you can be sure that John Guinn, The Travel Researcher, will be Checking It Out, Before You Check In…
